The wind is powerful, so powerful that if you can harness it, it can supply entire cities with electricity. This wind farm in the Tararua Ranges can supply 75,000 homes using enormous turbines with individual rotor blades that are 45 meters long.
Yet, Jesus Christ commands the wind with three words:
Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Mark 4:39-41
Perspective matters. Mankind’s conquests and achievements are awesome; yet when we put them alongside the power of the Lord, they are like dirty rags.
This necessary contrast reminds us of our rightful place as the created; for it does not take long to elevate ourselves to the position of Creator.
The Lord is known by his justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.
