Mt Sefton is imposing, confronting, beautiful and enticing all at the same time. It is 3152m tall and it is found resting alongside its taller rival Aoraki/Mt Cook. Often ice falls from the face creating thunder like booms across the glaciated valley.
Mountains are very much within our reach yet completely untameable. They are not like the stars which are beyond our grasp, yet they are not like the trees that can be felled. There is a sense that mountains can be climbed, but only if the mountain allows it.
It is no wonder that we must come to the mountain of the Lord. An imposing, confronting, beautiful & enticing place. A place that beckons us to come. A place that allows us to come.
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” Micah 4:2
