Wisdom or Fear?

Why would anyone submit to fear? Why would anyone willingly be controlled by fear? When someone thinks they are obeying the voice of wisdom, they feel secure.

Fear often masquerades as wisdom and will try to mimic the voice of wisdom:

“Prop up the flanks” fear whispers.

“Store all the gold” fear whispers.

“Retreat, the risk is too high” fear whispers.

“Build a fortress now”, fear whispers.

“Start mobilizing the army” fear whispers.

“Attack before it is too late” fear whispers.

It could be wisdom to wait, it also could be fear; it could be wisdom to charge ahead, it also could be fear.

The ability to discern wisdom from fear is a great treasure to a man or woman of God; for amongst her many blessings, she protects us from the constant state of restlessness and toil that fear produces.
