One day I felt inspired to use recycled pallets to make a headboard. I am not a carpenter and normally I don’t enjoy wood work. As I labored in this process, I often wondered if it was worth it and I thought about stopping many times. After many hours of selecting pieces, cutting, screwing and staining – this was the final result. I was amazed at how something that was about to be thrown away could now become something beautiful.
The Lord once again used this experience as an object lesson, teaching me about the wonder and joy of His rebuilding here on earth; for He is the master craftsman, who rebuilds His kingdom with broken people.
Now, each time I go to bed I see this headboard and the Lord reminds me that He is rebuilding the ancient ruins amongst us. Taking each person out of the world, preparing them, restoring them and then placing them perfectly together, to create a glorious piece of art for His name’s sake. His work amongst us is beautiful, wonderful and very much worth it.
As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
