God’s Anointing to Quit

Quitting, [letting go, leaving, resigning, moving, relocating, surrendering] is often the step that God requires of us.

The very first step of faith that Peter had to take was to ‘quit’: he left his father, boat, nets, job & future inheritance, when Jesus called him.

In the time of Israel’s exile God required all of His people to ‘let go’ of the land He had given to them. Those who recognized that God was anointing a time to ‘surrender’, handed themselves over to the Babylonian army.

The patriarch of our faith, Abraham, was required to ‘leave’ his country, his people, and his father’s household to enter God’s Promised Land.

Joseph and Mary had to ‘relocate’ to Egypt for a period of time in order to protect baby Jesus from Herod’s massacre of all the infants.

Ecclesiastes teaches us there is a season for every activity under heaven – the list includes ‘a time to give up’ [Ecc 3:6].

Integrity does not require us to persevere at something when God is asking us to move on.
